"Opus amplissimum de arte athletica" was created in the 16th century, written both in German and Latin. Images are extraordinary, many depicting unarmoured individuals engaged using longsword, dagger, quarter-staff, dussack, pole-axe , short-staff and what appears to be a sickle.
