Sheridan Park School Presentation
"How a man shall be armed in the 14th century"

June 10, 2002

David M. Cvet with the assistance of AEMMA student, Darren Smith delivered a 2 hour presentation on "How a man shall be armed in the 14th century" to 300 students between grades 1 and 8 on June 10, 2002 at Sheridan Park School, St. Catharines, ON. The presentation was scheduled in the morning and was held in the school's gymnasium in order to accomodate such a large number of students.

The presentation included detailed description of the arms and armour of a 14th century knight while David was dressing up in the armour. During this portion of the presentation, questions from the audience were fielded by David, which included such questions as "How heavy is the armour"? "How heavy is the sword"? "How do you go to the bathroom when wearing the armour?" and so on. The presentation was similar in content with the presentations delivered to the ROM. See AEMMA at the ROM for more details on the presentation.

At the conclusion of the presentation, a demonstration of some sword work, with steel swords with the assistance of Darren provided the audience with the opportunity to see and hear the clash of steel swords. This was followed by a video of AEMMA's production of "The Duel" filmed at Orangeville's Jousting Tournament in July 2001. Thanks to Ms. Marie Atack (David's sister who is standing in the left photo ;-) and the AV kids who coordinated and assisted with this presentation.
