raining Schedule, Fees and Location

Academy of European Medieval Martial ArtsThe Academy offers a core training program that addresses two objectives: (1) to resurrect and reconstruct historical European/Western medieval martial arts; (2) to provide instruction and training in the development of personal defensive and offensive skills. For newcomers to training, we recommend you review and familiarize yourself with the training program and the equipment requirements for recruits. The equipment requirements page describes the equipment required for each level of training skill or rank.

Recruit training at AEMMA is designed to give the students the foundations of l`arte dell`armizare based on either abrazare (grappling) or daga (dagger) alternating with training with spada (sword). In other words, one session would be either abrazare (grappling) or daga (dagger) followed by the next session with spada (sword). Scholler training roughly follows the planned training segments found in detail on the scholler training pages.

Below are listed the details with respect to the training schedule (note the combined recruit and scholler classes), membership categories, fees structures and a guest visit request form.

Footnotes
  1. A scholler candidate is a recruit student who after a period of training has challenged the Academy to undergo a scholler's test. The challenge permits the recruit student to train with the schollers in order to focus on certain skills and capabilities and also to engage in longsword freeplay in preparation for the test.

  2. Fighting Arts Collective Toronto FACT = Fighting Arts Collective Toronto is a not-for-profit corporation comprised of three member martial arts organizations, AEMMA, JKD Centre & Toronto Wing Chun Academy.
JKD or Jeet Kune Do is the name for the Concepts and Philosophy developed by the late Bruce Lee with his student, training partner and friend, Dan Inosanto. Translated from Cantonese, Jeet Kune Do means "the Way of the Intercepting Fist". More than just a collection of memorised techniques, Jeet Kune Do is a method for developing the attributes (e.g. timing, sensitivity, explosiveness) necessary to survive an actual street-fight.
Wing Chun ("glorifying springtime") Kung Fu is a Chinese "internally oriented" (nei lu) martial art system. It is a recent system that was developed in reaction to "external" styles which rely upon power and strength.
