Digby Scallop Days 2008
How a man shall be armed in the 14th century

--  August 10, 2008  --

On a sunny Sunday afternoon on the last day of the Digby Scallop Days Festival, in the town gazebo, and with the appearance of fog approaching the Annapolis Basin, at approximately 5:30pm, David M. Cvet, president and founder of AEMMA, along with the assistance of three students who are enrolled in the Smith's Cove summer swordsmanship program, Brian Joudrey, Dieter Jilge and Robert Wilkinson delivered a presentation of the arms and armour of a 14th century man at arms to approximately 30+ spectators who braved the inbound chill in the air to witness this presentation. The hour long presentation peaked the interst of a number of curious spectators who wished to learn details such as "how much does the harness weigh?", "how heavy is the sword?" and "why do people train in the art when swords are no longer carried?".

After the presentation concluded, some photo opportunities were had, and everyone involved retired to a local restaurant in Digby, along with everyone's significant other and finished the evening with spectating the fireworks closing off the Scallop Days Festival later that evening.
