Symbolism: Terry's family originally hails from the southern coast of France, where several of the ancestors were master mariners. To represent the seafaring history, the per bend wavy symbolizes the shoreline. The tinctures Sable and Argent was selected as opposed to the Azure (blue) and Argent because the family have not been profissional mariners for the last few generations. Terry's family has also Acadian roots, having emmigrated to Nova Scotia over 350 years ago. This portion of the family history is symbolized by the Evangeline Star from the Acadian flag. This differentiates the Acadian flag from the flag of France by having the star in the top left corner of the flag. In order to accomodate the Star, the normal "bend" was changed to bend sinister arriving at the final design of the arms.
