What is AEMMA?

The Academy of European Medieval Martial Arts (AEMMA, pronounced “emma”) is a Historical European Medieval Martial Arts School with locations across Canada. We have been teaching medieval swordfighting for 25 years.

What classes does AEMMA offer?

AEMMA offers classes in medieval swordfighting, dagger and grappling based on the works of Fiore die Liberi among others.

Advanced students study fighting in armour with sword, spear and poleaxe, as well as arming sword, sword & buckler and sidesword.

AEMMA brings 25+ years of experience and a large team of instructors with decades of diverse martial arts experience. We focus on skill development and martial practices, developed in conjunction with other martial artists.

What historical sources does AEMMA use?

AEMMA bases its classes on manuscripts from real fighting masters such as Fiore dei Liberi, George Silver and Dall’Agocchie

Where is AEMMA located?

AEMMA has active chapters in Toronto, Guelph, Ottawa and Digby, Nova Scotia and a study group in London, Ontario.
